We then investigated whether Tpk2 occupies specific portion of the genome. Tpk2p was found almost exclusively associated with the promoters of ribosomal protein genes (Fig. 3 G-I).

Unlike Tpk1p, Tpk2p occupancy did not correlate with transcription rates genome wide and Tpk2 occupancy showed little change when cells were exposed to oxidative stress, which leads to reduced levels of ribosomal protein gene transcription (Fig. 3H).

These results indicate that Tpk1p is generally and dynamically associated with transcribed portions of all active genes. In contrast, Tpk2 appears to be stably associated with the promoters of genes that function primarily in protein synthesis.
