Promoter Architecture

Yeast promoter architectures. Four classes of arrangements present in promoter regions are depicted. Single regulator architecture: promoter regions that contain one or more copies of the binding site sequence for a single regulator and are bound by that regulator under at least one environmental condition. Multiple regulator architecture: promoter regions that contain one or more copies of the binding site sequences for more than one regulator and are bound by those regulators under at least one environmental condition. Repetitive motif architecture: promoter regions that contain multiple copies of a binding site sequence of a regulator. Co-occurring regulator architecture: promoters that contain binding site sequences for recurrent pairs of regulators and are bound by those pairs of regulators under at least one environmental condition. For illustration purposes, not all binding site sequences are shown, and the scale is approximate.
